Blossomy Spring

Long time now see, yo! Took a lil’ trip to see the apple blossoms with mizya today. Been a long time since I’ve actually done proper doll photography and these greatly vary by quality because the weather was being as uncooperative as possible. It was sunny, windy, cloudy and rainy all within minutes and changing constantly. xD Only really the sunny photos are nice, but I liked some of the poses etc. on the cloudy photos too, but I had to edit them quite a bit and they’re still pretty flat. But Yuyu is cute! I just got her new eyes from Tenshi266 a few days ago and while I love her old eyes, they make her whole eyes look really black in photos and it’s just a huge pain. The shape is wrong for her. These don’t focus as well, but they’re definitely better in photos. I also ordered a better shaped pair for Kiyo, but received the wrong pair, so I’m still waiting on those. I should update my animetic eye review post soon, though since I have several new types of eyes atm. and a few more on the way.
The kimono isn’t new, but it’s actually 50cm size and veeeery short on her, but I still had more of that fabric, so I made her a skirt part to mimic a full kimono and a new obi + headband. :3

Anyway, Yuyu is very cute, enjoy some spring photos. o/

Summer sun

… and the lack of it, lol. Went on a photography trip with local doll friends and the weather was a bit indecisive, so the colors and the light in these is all over the place. Also have to take some more Saya photos later.

We were a spectacle for local fishermen cause we drove to a marina for some peaceful photography (beaches way too full). Whenever we go out, at least one of us ends up explaining about dolls to random people, lol. xD

Beach babes~

I have some Yuyu & friends photos from this same weekend as well, but I haven’t managed to edit them yet. It’s a pain sitting in front of the computer.. it’s effin’ 29°C in my room (and it’s even hotter outside) and although I have a fan blowing at me non-stop, I’m dying. If I leave here it’s even worse. =__= Finnish houses are not built to keep the heat outside. I have zero energy to do anything whatsoever, and yet I’d have a ton of things to do. Mainly working on commissions, but it takes all my energy to just not die. I’m not built for this weather either.

Anyway, mizya‘s Ren is visiting in these photos. We worked on her swimsuit together the day before and then took both beach babes to the lake. :P

Lounging

Saya has something new. A new bust that is. Unfortunately she can’t really take full advantage of it because the DDdy lower torso is so goddamn long and fortified that the chest part just can not move under it. At least her neck and shoulders pose now but that’s about it. (Yes, swapped to a silicone bust.) The bust could also be a bit prettier: I wish there was some more ‘flesh’ in the underboob area so that she wouldn’t get the boob-joint effect. It’s really prominent on her, too, looks like she has symnastia, which tends to be more of a problem with boob-jointed dolls with a small bust, not a large one. But yeah, that’s what she seems to have now. So clothes it is at all times.

Testing her lingerie here. The bra is a prototype and needs some fixes, it doesn’t sit as well as it could. So sorry the colours are all over the place and horrible. Bad background colour and lacking indoor light does it.

Autumn is here

I’ve tried a few clothes on my new girl, whom I’ve named Akari (明空), and put together a season appropriate outfit for now. I’ll have to get her ready for our Halloween meet now, though, so she’ll have another get up for a while. She’s Saya’s energetic little sister. :3

I forgot to take face up photos of her today again, but I don’t like taking off the wig. It’s so tight that I keep killing the hairdo little by little every time I put it back on, so I’ll rather not. You can’t see her cute little freckles in these photos but maybe some day…

DD: Takatsuki Yayoi arrival

Time for the first doll arrival of the year. I don’t have anything for her, except the eyes that arrived two days ago, though she was preordered a year ago already. I was avoiding thinking about it to make the wait easier, so I have yet to even give her a name, or decide whose little sister she is. Haha, but my DDs don’t have very specific storylines or anything, so there’s time to figure things out.

I did a bit of a quick review of her, but no proper photos yet, because I’ll of course be re-painting her right away (though it’s really dark right now). These are just some quick shots of the face, the wig and a few different eyes and wigs on her.

Of course she arrived with all her default gear, as Volks dolls do, but I am planning on unloading the outfit on someone else -if there’s anyone that would actually want it. I just pretty much want to be rid of it (outfit+jewellery+shoes -but not the hair thingies). I’ll also probably sell the eyes, though as Volks acrylics go, they’re not that bad.

Belated apple blossoms ( part 1 )

I’ve completely forgotten to post these (mostly because they’re repetitive). We had a local meet up at the apple tree park in Kuokkala on June 11. There were snacks and plenty of people and dolls around, as well as some annoying disruptions (drone flyers >_>*). However, since we were at a shooting location, most of everyone spent time taking photos of their own dolls and occasionally gathering in the middle to talk. We didn’t take a group photo, but there were a ton of different skin colours, sizes and types of dolls around. :3 I think I only had DDs + Avis with me but because of the lighting conditions, didn’t manage much photos.
I also have some photos from the days before, when I went with Mizya to check out the stage of blooming, but I’m not sure if I’ve even edited those (I need to check them out and post if there’s anything worth posting). It was too sunny all through the blooming season and thus hard to photograph dolls.

These are all different colours because they had to be edited a lot. =__=

Random photos entry 1/2

I’m just throwing in DD’s and Azones into this thing, because I don’t want to make three separate entries. Sorry. :P (I tend to like things well categorized but sometimes there’s gotta be exceptions.) These two doll types are close enough anyway. The few BJD photos I have will get a second entry.

I had a long pause from dolls where I didn’t do much, but in the past month or two, I’ve been more active again and although I haven’t done many full shoots, I have single photos of several of my dolls. So, I’ll be posting all of those here for now. There are just 1-3 of each set, so it doesn’t make much sense to give them their own entries.


Starting with Yuyuka. I re-did her face up and I was taking test photos of her here. But the face photos were boring, so I didn’t resize any of those. I need to take new ones soon.

Apple blossoms

I went to a doll meet in an apple tree garden this past Saturday. Well, it’s more like a public park, so they’re not taking care of the lawn and stuff, so there was a sea of dandelions kind of ruining the scenery, but some of the trees were blooming so amazingly that I got really camera happy with my dolls (mainly Kiyo). (~ *3*)~ This is also where I took my Lin photos last year.

I took my two swings to the park and set them up on different trees, so everyone got some swing photos as well. :3

This is just my Kiyori shoot. I’ll post my Yukihi photos later and a group shot of all the dolls that attented.

Cold days keep on coming

Whoo, long time no see. I took some Yami photos at New Years but forgot to post them here. They’ll come later, though, because this is another DD entry. I’ve been inactive with dolls for many weeks now, but the days are finally getting longer and I’m hoping that would motivate me to photograph more. However, it’s been so insanely cold that long photo sessions are out. Today I braved the -25°C weather and took Saya and Yuyu out for a few quick outdoor photos. Yuyu just doesn’t really have good winter clothes and Saya’s coat needs to be shortened (I made it for Sigrun originally and so that a long skirt fits underneath). But at least I did something, right?

I have a TON of stuff to sew, including commissions, but it’s been so cold I haven’t gotten to go to the fabric store either, although I was supposed to go last week. Don’t get me wrong, I love it when it’s cold, but it also causes all sorts of problems like the car not starting, and having to put on a TON of clothes and then sweating like a pig indoors in the stores. =__= Not a fan of feeling hot.
I should also repaint Kiyori because I’m not very happy with her atm. But getting her the right colour eyes soon should also help. :3

Anyway, Yuyu went out and clearly wasn’t prepared for the cold, while Saya had no problems!

Gloomy School Days

Ookay, I’ve been eyeing this Sadol school jacket ever since it was released but I didn’t have a doll to wear it back then. And once I did, I couldn’t afford to order from them. But a few weeks ago I finally did it: got the jacket, skirt, socks and super cute shoes. I need to make a few shirts to go under this, this is Sebille’s. Well, I planned on making them beforehand, but I got lazy and I have so much other stuff to sew too.

So glad this package arrived today. I was SO nervous because our postal service is failing with a package I have coming from Japan. It might be returning to sender -or not, they don’t even know at the customer service ¤”%#/”½!! I’m really worried for ANY packages right now actually, because of all the strikes and ongoing battles with the employers and employees and untrained workers and whatever. Some days we don’t even seem to get the daily mail into our box. But seriously, I will flip my shit if they return that damn package without even allowing the seize and re-deliver order I had them make take into effect. I’ve paid taxes for it and everything. If it does get retuned, I will see if I can just get refunded and the taxes returned because I don’t want to pay shipping again and play with customs again. Ugh.

But back to my Sadol package. I also got a little something for Null in it, but I think I’ll need to wait for some kind of snow before taking photos. I have an idea in mind. :3
