I’d planned on getting the three backlogged box openings out of the way before this newest one, but… things don’t always go to plan I guess. (;\u00b4\u0414`) I’ve had lots of stuff to do lately, there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in a day to do everything. I haven’t completely given up yet, though, one day I’ll have this blog up to date, one day… !!! (\u0e51\u2022\u0300\u3141\u2022\u0301\u0e05)<\/p>\n

But well, let’s post about these two girls before this one gets stuck in the drafts folder for weeks, too, ahah… ((\u00b4\u2200`;)) My newest Pureneemo family additions arrived today: Otogi no Kuni series Nina & Chisa~ \u30fe(@\u00b0\u25bd\u00b0@)\u30ce At first I was only interested in Nina because to be honest I’ve never cared much for Chisa personally… buuuut somehow this one kept tugging on my heart strings. (\u25cf\u00b4\u25a1`)\u2661 I guess I just had to find “the one” for me? Ringo-san<\/a> is a horrible enabler and kept posting so manu cute shots of these girls on twitter that eventually I gave in and ordered them both. \\(-\u3142-)\/ \u2665 \u2665 \u2665 It’s dangerous to shop before 5am, you put more stuff in your cart than you should lol… I was a little afraid that I might end up regretting getting them both, but… luckily that didn’t happen.<\/p>\n

Let’s move onto the photos… it was SUPER gloomy today and I had to use ISO800, even, so the photos are pretty horrible in quality. \u03a3(\u309c\u30ed\u309c;) I’m very sorry about that.<\/p>\n

The box~ Got them from Hobby Search again because they had a better price than Amiami.\u30fe(\uff3e\u2207\uff3e)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Yay, more peachy pink packaging paper!! HS, you know me well! (\u00b4\u2207\uff89\uff40*)\u30ce \u2665<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Now I can see the pretty boxes~ \u2665<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Skipped the bubblewrap step because it was so gloomy and dark… really puts a damper on taking photos, booh! At this point I started worrying about the state of their hair… (\u0e51\u00b4\u2022\u0434 \u2022 `\u0e51)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Unboxed Nina first since she’s the one I was looking forward to the most. She’s so cute, BUT – it was a disappointment to see that on the right side her hair is significantly shorter AND it was bent backwards, so that the hair doesn’t curl to frame her face nicely like in the promo photos. ~( \u00b4\u2022\ufe35\u2022` )~ Now I fear for the Little Match Girl Chiika I have on order because she has a similar bobcut as well…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Compared my two Ninas (here you can also see the new Nina’s messed up hair up close). (\uff61\uff65\u03c9\uff65\uff61) I feel like with the newer XS dolls the eyes are set a bit more far apart and they are somehow wider, too. The eye decals, I mean, I’m sure the head sculpts are still the same, it’s just the paint that is different. Also, the mouth on the new Nina is completely different in comparison to this older release (she originally had the old type cheeck blushing but I customised her).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Tried on her hairband to see if that would help with the hair… it didn’t. (\u30fc\u30fc;)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Gotta figure out something, the asymmetry really bugs me… (\uff1b\u00b4\uff65\u0414\uff65) It’s also a shame that her hair is so much shorter compared to the promo photos. I’ll have to cut it even further because the messed up right side is that much shorter than the left… o(*\u00b4\u0434`*)o<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Then I looked at the leaflets before focusing on Chisa. I thought that they might have the same story but should’ve known that Azone isn’t that lazy with their stories – only the first page is exactly the same, the rest of the story has some small changes because one is from Nina’s point of view and the other from Chisa’s. \u30fe(*\u00b4\u2200\uff40*)\uff89<\/p>\n

A long time ago,
\nFinally, one cold winter morning, a graceful girl with violet coloured eyes who was dressed in a burgundy dress arrived into the dormitory that the little girls lived in.<\/p>\n

“What a lovely girl!”<\/p>\n

muttered a maid named Chisa, who worked in the dorm, to herself and as the girl turned around, she smiled at Chisa.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Nina’s story:<\/p>\n

One day, the girl noticed that she had forgotten her interesting book in the classroom. She hurried back into the classroom, where the cute maid who always walked around the dorm picked up the book in her hand<\/p>\n

“I came to get the book that I forgot. My name is Nina. What is your name?”<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Nina’s story:<\/p>\n

“I’m Chisa. This is such a beautiful book.” Chisa gave the book back to her.<\/p>\n

Nina smiled shyly as she said “To be honest, I’ve always wanted to become friends with you.”<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Nina’s story:<\/p>\n

“So have I!” said Chisa as she smiled back at her.<\/p>\n

Since then the two of them became best friends and lived happily ever after.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Some time after that, one day while Chisa was cleaning, she noticed that there was a book on the table<\/p>\n

“Beautiful book! I wonder if someone forgot it?”<\/p>\n

Chisa picked up the book and looked around at her surroundings.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Chisa’s story:<\/p>\n

Suddenly a girl arrived. <\/p>\n

“I came to get the book that I forgot. My name is Nina. What is your name?”<\/p>\n

“I’m Chisa. This is such a beautiful book.” Chisa gave the book back to her.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Chisa’s story:<\/p>\n

Nina smiled shyly as she said <\/p>\n

And next is Chisa. Her pigtails were also terribly unsymmetrical, but at least they’re a bit easier to fix than Nina’s hair problem… I also had to cut both dolls’ bangs because they were uneven as well. \u03a3(`\uff65\u0414\uff65\uff89)\uff89<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
She’s got such lovely blue eyes~ (\u00b4\u2200\uff40)\u2661 Those and the cute blue dress are what doomed me… also, her hair colour is super lovely! I have such weakness for these caramel tones~ \u2665<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Yeap, just waxing the hair isn’t enough, it’s gonna need some hot water treatment as well. (\uff61\u2022\u0301\ufe3f\u2022\u0300\uff61)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Took one test shot with a backdrop at this point ’cause I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to get photos after I was done with their hair… it kept getting gloomier and gloomier – switched from ISO400 to ISO800 here, ughhh…. (\u3002\u00b4\u0434\uff40\u3002)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
I tried my hardest to get the bent curls back into shape, but… it didn’t work out too well in the end. (\u3063- \u2038 \u2013 \u03c2) At least it’s a little bit better now compared to what I started with, I guess… I am a sad panda.\uff08\uff1b\u3078\uff1a\uff09<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Luckily she’s really cute, even if her hair was a disappointment. I really love the book-like bag, it’s such a cute little detail!\uff08*\u00b4\u25bd\uff40*\uff09The accessories are a bit sloppy, too, the bow on her earmuffs is kinda wonky…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
I’m really liking Chisa a whole lot more than I expected! \u30fe(*\u00b4\u2200\uff40*)\uff89 Such a cheerful little girl she is~ Her bow looks better than Nina’s, but it’s not sewn on the center of the hairband, so I’ll have to fix that later…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
The cape that arrived with Chisa would suit Aoto colour-wise, but… the frills on the hem are so girly, lol! (*\u2267\u25bd\u2266)\uff89\uff7c)) He wasn’t very happy about wearing it… but Naru approves! (\u0e51\u02c3\u0335\u1d17\u02c2\u0335)\u0648<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Both of these girls are really cute, but I was rather disappointed because of the hair troubles and the sloppyness with some of their accessories. (\u00b4;\ufe35;`) In addition to the earmuff hairbands the shoes are a bit sloppily made as well… these two cost 1000 yen more than the other Otogi no Kuni releases so far and that’s one reason why I’m a little miffed that there were problems with them. \u10da(\uff61-\ufe4f-\uff61 \u10da) Little Red Hood Koron had kinda messy hair, too, but otherwise everything about her was perfect so I didn’t feel as disappointed with her as I was with these two. But well, after fixing them up a bit, I do feel that they’re super cute and both are definitely staying! (\u00b4,,\u2022\u03c9\u2022,,)\u2661<\/p>\n

The names that I chose for these two are Momoka (Nina) and Chinatsu (Chisa). Although, as usual, I’ll mostly speak of them as Momo and Natsu because I like using nicknames for my dolls, lol. The kanji that I chose for Momoka is \u674e\u83ef, which literally means “plum flower”. Chinatsu’s kanji is \u5c0f\u590f, “little summer”.
