Okay, so today’s arrival is Snow White Aika from the Otogi no Kuni series. I mainly wanted the outfit and on the day I ordered I asked in my personal instagram if any of my local friends would like to adopt Aika but no one volunteered for sure… and then as I was waiting for the doll, I kind of became tempted to keep her if I like her in person after all. (´･Д･lll)ゞ The biggest issue was her mouth and the blonde hair & green eyes combo – because I have so many blonde neemos already at home. And most of them also have green eyes… and I’m all for variety and more of a brunette & blue eyes kinda girl (probably ’cause I’m a brunette myself lol) so I had my doubts.
Anyway, I decided to see how she looks in person first, before making any decisions. After all, I kind of regretted that I’d already agreed to split Swan Lake Raili because I rather liked her in person, ahah… (( ´∀`;))
But anyway, let’s peek into the box, shall we? (ノ^∇^)ノ

Snow White
A long, long time ago
in a big castle, lived a beautiful princess
The princess’ hair was white as snow, and because of that she was called Snow White
One day, the princess found a beautiful mirror during her walk around the castle
She took a peek into the mirror, and saw a smiling reflection of herself
“I am Snow Black. I live here in the forest within the mirror. It’s a little boring by myself, so could we play together?”
Invited by Snow Black, Snow White entered the forest within the mirror
The forest within the mirror was a beautiful place
The two of them played together happily around the forest
“I am starting to feel hungry”
Snow Black saw Snow White pat her tummy, and offered her a big, red apple while smiling
Snow White took a big bite of the apple
The apple was like honey; very sweet and delicious
The two of them talked a lot while eating apples
After continuing to play, Snow White started feeling very sleepy
While Snow White let out a small yawn, Snow Black’s expression turned a bit lonely
“Today was a lot of fun. Can we play again sometime?”
Snow White smiled and started nodding off, and soon fell asleep
When she opened her eyes, she was back in her own familiar room
“I wonder if it was just a dream…”
When she looked at her feet, next to her was a big, red apple.

I really love every piece of this outfit! (人´ω｀*)♡ Well, except not the shoes that much, the foam sole doesn’t make them very stable… and they were a pain to put on due to the ankle straps and the tiiiiny buckle, ahah. (-∀-`; )
Here’s a fancy video of me struggling with the shoes lol, I didn’t want to open the strap all the way because it would be a pain to get it through the little buckle again. ｡ﾟ(TヮT)ﾟ｡
I had to compare all the blondes that I have, because Snow White Aika’s hair ended up being this really lovely pale blonde, which is completely different from my other girls’ hair, yay! ヾ(＾∇＾)

And just the blondes. I really love Snow White Aika’s hair colour! ´͈ ᵕ `͈ ♡°◌̊Also, a comparison with just white hair. The pale blonde is soooo lovely! (*´ ˘ `*).｡oO ( ♡ )Unfortunately, the outfit had some quality issues, like loose threads and also random threads that had gotten tangled into the stiching… （￣□￣；）And the gathering on top layer of the dress isn’t very well done on the right side… I’ll need to fix it myself, because asymmetry really bothers me – and I don’t like how the fraying edges of the ruffles are exposed anyway, it doesn’t look that nice. (ーー;)Then, a photo of Aika in her fullset glory! ♥～(‘▽^人)I do like her hair which is enough to make me keep her, but… I’m not a fan of the ぽよ mouth, to be honest.（￣ー￣；）The night before I saw dreams about customising neemos, so I decided to see if I’d love her even more if I changed her mouth.Time to dig out the painting gear! (๑>ᴗ<)و I use MSC for coating and pastels for painting. I never got the hang of acrylics, so I use pastel dust with water for painting lines.I use acetone-free nailpolish remover and a cotton swab to remove the decals. As you can see, it’s pretty efficient for that. I always wash the area after using nailpolish remover to make sure there’s no residue. After that, I cover the rest of the face and hair with a paper towel to avoid getting MSC where I don’t want it. Then I add a light coat of MSC, paint the mouth that I want with pastels and finish the job with a coat of MSC.Probably because my first Aika was a kitty, I always see Aikas as these cat-like girls, ahah~ (^. ⋏ .^)ﾉ That’s why I wanted to paint a kitty mouth for Snow White Aika as well. She’s soooo cute now! (੭ु >ω< )੭ु⁾⁾♡And some fancier photos with a backdrop~（*´▽｀*）♥Cute!!! ╰(✿´⌣`✿)╯♡ ♡ ♡After taking the photos, I thought that actually I’d like to customise her a bit further – I thought that the lovely pale blonde hair is very suitable for an ombre effect! (ﾟ∀ﾟ ) I used this red hair pastel to create the pink ombre, the pastel doesn’t stick to human hair at all but it works really nicely for dolls’ fiber hair. (人*´∀｀)+ﾟ:｡*ﾟ+
I decided to name her Komaki, the kanji for her name is 小真姫. The first kanji is “small, little”, second “pure, genuine, true” and the third is “princess”. I mainly chose it because eventually I want to get the Snow Black Aika as well as Komaki’s sister, and I want to name her Miyabi, 美夜姫. So, I wanted for the sisters to have matching kanjis in their names. And well, Komaki is a nice name, and I can nickname her Maki-chan, hehe~ *(*´∀｀*)☆
