Too Spooky Halloween meme

Continuing with the Halloween theme after the story…

Saw a lot of people doing this and I figured I’d fill out my answers too. ( ´ ▽ ` )ﾉ This is one of the few BJD memes that have more interesting questions and not just those basic “what’s your favourite doll” or “how many dolls you have” etc questions.

Werewolf – How has the hobby “transformed” you?
Hmm… I don’t know if it has “transformed” me ’cause I used to photograph and sew even before collecting BJDs, but… I definitely do those things more now. And I didn’t really have a desire to meet people who I befriended online (apart from Yenna) until I got into collecting BJDs and wanted to attend doll meets. I only went to my first anime convention in 2007 because we had a doll meet there, ahah~（　´∀｀） I’m a bit of a hermit usually… Also, I spend more money than I used to, lol! Although, I’m still pretty frugal when it comes to anything else than dolls/figures… …

Vampire – The dreaded sun! How do you feel about and cope with yellowing, or more generally the aging of these dolls?
*shrugs* I don’t really care either way. ┐(￣ヘ￣)┌ When I started out in the hobby, I fearlessly took my dolls out in direct sunlight and didn’t pay attention to where I kept them on display… then in, 2009? when I got my first Gray skin dolls, I got a bit more paranoid about sunlight and that phase lasted for a while… but now for the past years I’ve been feeling quite “meh, who cares” about it all. (」*´∇｀)」 My first doll turned 10 years old this summer (although, I only have his head left but anyway) and although he’s yellowed, he’s still a lovely colour. I do absolutely hate how Fairyland’s beauty white resin yellows, though, which is the reason why I sold Kei’s MNF body a few years back. It turns just gross, ugh. (；¬д¬) No complaints about my other dolls, though. Some I even try to yellow on purpose because I dislike this new trend of pink normal skins. I prefer a creamy tone more… but yeah, I keep my resin dolls stored in two showcases; one never gets direct sunlight but the other next to my computer table gets some briefly on summer evenings. I’m pretty much over worrying about yellowing, because no matter how you hide the dolls from the light, eventually they will age and yellow due to air and other variables… I’ve spent so much money on these things that I want to enjoy them and not keep them stashed away in some dark corner. (´∇ﾉ｀*)ノ

Frankenstein’s Monster – Have you ever modded a doll? Tell us about it! If you could magically try any mod without fear of failure, what would you like to try?
I’ve done some minor mods, like eye opening and stuff… and I’ve always sanded the seams of my white/normal skin dolls because I hate how they feel. And some companies have really sharp seams, so it’s better to get rid of them. Although, these days I’m laaazyyyy so I’m all “hurrah” if I buy a tan or gray skin doll and I DON’T HAVE TO sand the seams! (ﾉ´ヮ´)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧ Because it might cause discolouring, so I have the perfect excuse not to do it, lol! I suppose the most extensive mod that I’ve done so far is sanding my DC Russel’s human face into a more animal-like one:

Zombie – Have you ever caught the Marketplace virus?? Name some unplanned purchases that jumped out and “infected” you?
Hmm… I haven’t done any impulse buys on the second hand market, only directly from companies. Because limited releases. (;｀O´)o Well, this is for BJDs. If I were to talk about Pureneemos, then YES… I have bought several of them second hand because “wow that’s a great deal for that particular doll I MUST BUY IT NOW BECAUSE I’M SURE I WON’T HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE!╰(✧∇✧╰)” … yeap. Also, figures are so easy to end up buying ’cause of the pre-orders it’s all like “Well I won’t have to pay for it RIGHT NOW… …” (ヘ＿　＿)ヘ

Skeleton – What’s your favorite body sculpt? Forget heads!
Out of females, Narae 43cm body is close to perfection, the only complaints that I have are the narrow shoulders and hips and too short arms. But otherwise it’s loove. (´∀｀)♡ From bigger female dolls, Oasisdoll Chic body hands down. It’s perfection all around!! (´ ▽｀).。ｏ♡ Only, for my Yun I wish there was an option for a bigger bust because she’s supposed to have huge boobs, but… yeah. Both have lovely jointing, they can do really natural poses and they do it smoothly. (｡’▽’｡)♡

For males… hmmm… Spiritdoll Proud is one of my favourites, even though I wish the arms were a biiiiit more defined. They’re suffering a little from the shapeless-stick-figure-arms-and-legs syndrome that many Chinese BJD bodies have. But otherwise it’s quite A+++ hot, ohohohoho~ Not to mention those optional parts– ლ(́◉◞౪◟◉‵ლ) I’d also love Soulkid NL male body and Vito male body lots if they didn’t have idiotic joints. NL body is pretty idiotic from its limbs and Vito’s TERRIBLE chest joint ruins otherwise a perfectly fine doll. I am bitter. ( ｰ̀εｰ́ ) I also love the old Dollshe Hound body apart from the grandpa butt… BUT THAT SLOUCH. It’s divine. I kinda regret not getting that body for Misha despite the grandpa butt… I was secuded by Pure body’s abs and perky & full buttcheeks, damn iiittttt!!!  ｡ﾟﾟ(」｡≧□≦)」

Witch – Name some dolls that are magical! Seeing them on your dashboard inspires you! Can be general sculpts or specific dolls owned by talented friends.
I mostly browse flickr when I want to see lovely doll photos. Flickr has the best selection of fabulous doll photos that I know of. （*’∀’人）♥ I can be inspired by pretty much anything, but of course there are certain doll photographers who I follow more closely because I love their work. To list a couple of them, Azure has been my inspiration for some years now. Here is the first ever photo that I saw from them and that made me hooked:

I also love my friend uve_triple‘s photos, especially of her pureneemos. So much cuteness! Generally I love seeing photos that have a little scene and a story or then some really gorgeous outdoors location.（人*´∀｀）That’s what I try to do with my photography, too, although there are days when I’m feeling lazy or just wanna show off an outfit or something and end up taking a boring “pretty doll poses for the camera” photos, ahah… And of course I have to mention Yenna — not only because she’s my best friend, but because she does some really amazing things that inspire me a lot~ ´͈ ᵕ `͈ ♡°◌̊

But there are lots and lots of talented people out there who inspire me, it would take me all night to list everyone. I’d say browsing my flickr faves gives an idea about what kind of photos I like and/or find inspiring. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

What haunts me is the fact that I can’t seem to find a sculpt for one of my OCs, Ivanna, at all. (눈_눈) I’m very particular about her look, she should have a frowny and mature face but all the companies that make mature female dolls ONLY MAKE SMILING FACES. ( ͒˃⌂˂ ͒) Soom used to have Beryl, Vesuvia and Onyx but lately they make young-looking smiling girls too. It really frustrates me that most doll sculptors seem to be under the idea that women should always smile. s(・｀ヘ´・;)ゞ The feminist in me gets quite enraged by the idea that women should always smile. I have a resting bitchface syndrome myself, so… I take this perhaps a bit personally, too. （；¬＿¬) Gaaaah why can’t I have a frowny lady???

Freddy Krueger – What is your worst doll nightmare? Has it happened or not?
Hmm… not necessarily just a doll fear, but I sometimes think that if I got into an accident and lost my vision or control of my hands, then… what the heck would I do? ’cause I enjoy doing things with my hands and appreciate visual beauty very much… that would be really devastating and hard to cope with, I’m sure. (´-﹏-`；) And, well, it’d suck if there was a fire in my building and my collection was in danger of being destroyed in the fire. If I was inside in my apartment when the fire occured, I’d try to come up with a quick plan to save my dolls, though… like, put them in a bag and try to get them safely to the ground from my balcony door with rope or something, LOL! (*≧▽≦)ﾉｼ)) … maybe I should buy some strong rope in storage.

Jason Voorhees – If you were gonna make Halloween costumes for your dolls (or if you plan to!) what costumes would you make?
Nahh, too lazy… a few years ago we had a Halloween meet up at my place and I made some Halloween-inspired accessories for my dolls: a wolf tail and ears for Kei and a ghost hood for Alisa. But generally I’m too lazy to bother, not that big on holidays and stuff… (-∀-`; )

Chucky (possessed doll) – Have you ever been scared of dolls or a certain doll? Be honest!
Smiling dolls that have like REALLY big grins with teeth ‘n’ all unnerve me a lot. ༼ : ౦ ‸ ౦ : ༽ There’s for example this thing by Supia, and DIM also had one by J. Baek that he’s now selling on his own website and there are probably others too that I don’t want to remember… Also Heisejinyao had those creepy star-shaped little things. I don’t even dare to search for photos, too traumatising. AND THAT ONE CHRISTMAS EVENT BABY DOLL THAT DOLL-ZONE MADE ONE YEAR. Σ(っﾟДﾟ；)っ Omfg that was creeepyyyy… real babies freak me out and dolls that look like real babies freak me out even more. There are definitely some disturbing things around, yeah…
