~45cm dolls
Woah, suddenly Lily has an expression. Thanks to the sideglance (when she’s looking straight up, she doesn’t seem to focus anywhere), I just HATE them in shoots, because it makes the doll look exactly the same in every photo. I hate them even more in stories, lol, those are ridiculous. So, I usually switch the glance to the other side or straight, but the wind was so cold I didn’t have the patience to. Ahah, so let’s live with a gazillion same shots of her face. *fail* But it’s a pretty face?
My new(ish) boy is finally looking okay. He still needs a better wig and more clothes, but at least he’s close to how he should look right now…
Mizya visited me again and we took more trips to the lake. I knew the last time was probably a perfect day that would not repeat itself. And it didn’t. The first time we went in the morning it was cold and extremely gloomy. The sky wasn’t visible at all, anywhere. Most of the photos look like it’s about to rain any minute. And, of course, the second time we went there was not a single cloud in the sky at all. Talk about extremes. I’m not a fan of photographing dolls in direct sunlight -at all, and lost most of my interest and didn’t even get to try some of the ideas I had.
But yay for beach props?
Oh my god. Mizya and I had so much fun today. We took a trip to the lake with our dolls and were pleased to find that the beach was almost empty. There was a mother with two kids when we went, and when they left some more kids + parent came. Actually each time a group left, another arrived, but we did have moments where it was just the two of us. You have no idea how rare that is. Usually during summer the only time the beach is empty is between 4AM-7AM. Perfect day. It was cool but not cold and the water was fine. The sun didn’t come out too much (but we did manage to have all kinds of weather; cloudy, windy, rain, sunshine, more cloudy) and the photos came out fine.
We spent two hours crawling and squatting in the shallow. My most used pose was me on my knees with elbow(s) in the water, just holding the camera above water -and butt up in the air (usually in the direction of the occasional swimmers), lolol. I didn’t have full swimgear, just the bottom half of a bikini. Otherwise I would’ve gone for a swim before we left.
Avis did some faceplants in the water but managed to keep her eyelashes on. I’ve glued them on pretty well and the glue needs to be longer in the water to go soft, so yay. She did lose her sueding, though so I need to re-do that. But I would’ve needed to do that soon anyway.
I played with wind and shutter speed again. xD It’s fun, though I need another dress for the purpose (possibly for some other doll) because I keep reusing this one over and over again.
I was commissioned a uniform for a Withdoll girl, but I took forever with it and the commissioner is unable to buy it at the moment. I’m selling it separately (through flickr right now, possibly through Etsy later), and it if doesn’t sell in the next few months, the original commissioner will buy it from me. I took some photos of the whole set, so I’m posting them here.
The set includes sleeves, a top, skirt and a chiffon hem that attaches to the top.

Just some Lilya snapshots. I keep failing with her and badly. :/ It sucks that this is the perfect mold for her face because it’s a bitch to photograph and it sits stupidly on the neck no matter what I do to it, and it’s eyes refuse to focus anywhere no matter what I try. Stupid Iple.
I’m probably dumping most of my not-so-good photos here from now on too. Flickr used to be my place to post crap at, but haha, they changed it and it’s so slow at loading (especially if I have torrents running) I don’t feel like going there at all. Plus the new layout offends my eyes. At least nobody can go and change the look of this blog while I’m not looking, so…

Avis got a new wig yesterday and I can’t stand how cute she is in this outfit with it. The photos aren’t very good, though. It wass too sunny and too windy for nicer outdoor photos today.’
I made Prisca some tabi socks and a kimono to go with her getas and planned to just take a few shots of the kimono, which turned into this. I’m so sorry it’s super repetitive, though. I’ll have a proper nice shoot with her in this outfit soon. I might add some decorations to the obi first, though. I was really tired by the time I finished this, so I haven’t had the chance yet.
