Cold but never freezing

Ohh yes, had inspiration to design an outfit for Yami and since I bought myself a new sewing machine, I was also able to add some decorative stitches to the hem (and the back flap but I messed that up, so we will not talk about it) and it was just so nice to sew. Well, most of it was made with the old machine, but I waited to finish it until I got the new one. :D I should’ve wired her arms for the shoot, though because the thick sleeves prevented her from bending her arms properly. There were a few poses I wanted to do but her arms just would not stay. So, I may re-shoot her if the weather keeps being nice, but other than that, yay, went outside for photos!

Also the outfit is actually meant to just be worn with the pants but since there is no way she would stand in the snow on her own, I made the fake underskirt (it snaps into place in front and back) to cover her stand, lol.

“Korkeakoski”

So, after yesterday’s doll meet myself, tursaantarha, Petunia & umizya headed to this stream called Korkeakoski (literally: high rapids) which is very close to the tea house. I’ve wanted to shoot here for a long time but it’s quite far from my home and not close to any other place I usually go to, so this was a great chance. Though, I would’ve been much happier with rubber boots and the doll I had planned on taking here in the first place. But this was a good preview to what I could do if I get to come back some time.

I got wet, my feet were on ice (took off my shoes and socks) and Yami got wet too. But there were wild raspberries we picked before the shoot so that was nice. xD I also only had a few poses and there weren’t too many possible angles without freezing my feet completely in the ice water so yeah. Some day I’ll go there again. ♥

Doll meet at Teeleidi

We had another local meet at Teeleidi today. I didn’t take much photos at the meet itself, since most of the time was spent talking and eating/drinking tea. Most of the dolls were on another table because the dishes filled the one we were using. But we did take the traditional group photo and then spead out to the garden to take some photos of our own dolls. xD


The bigger dolls were hanging out on the side table while we were conversing. Yami’s hand was slowly edging sideways, lol.

New year, new bling

Hi, it’s been a while since I’ve taken photos of my dolls. Or really done much with them. The end of the year was slow time for me regards to the hobby. I didn’t even get to make use of the holidays sales most companies had, because the company I wanted a doll from did release what I wanted, but refused to add another colour option, so I didn’t get my Cin. I’ve been waiting for a re-release of that doll for 3 years, and nope. Probably have to wait 3 more. Sucks, because the gender balance of my collection is really off right now, and I’d need more guys. Nox needs a body, but so do some of my girls (mosly Ye Rin, but I haven’t done research for her yet). I’d also love to re-shell Lilya (again) because Souldoll released a face that’s quite perfect for her and the head is probably, maybe, smaller than her current head. Which would save my ass. Unfortunately they won’t sell the head separately, but they do sell the body (Vito), so splitting it is probably useless. Sigh. Vito is waaay too tall for her and completely the wrong shape. Her current body is already too tall (46-47cm), so 50cm? No!

My only doll related activity as of late is re-painting Yami. I was never happy with her face up because I just originally painted her as quickly as possible in order to have her all together. Then, I was too lazy to fix her. I’m still not happy with the face because I ended up rushing it, but I do think it’s better than before. Character wise.

Since she has a new face, I took some photos of her. The lighting is bad, with stupid shadows on her face, but at least she works artificial lights decently. Most of my dolls don’t.

Random photos entry 2/2

And now for the very few BJD randoms I have.


Miy is turning 11 next month. She’s been sitting in the same clothes in the same pose on my shelf for years, but a few months ago I took her out and made her new pants, yay. \o/ I love her despite never playing with her. She’s the oldest doll I have left (and my second doll ever). And I think she’d need a new fresh face up but with my track record, that will probably take a few years.

Story: Negotiation

Okay, so so so sorry these are horrid flash photos. I had no other choice and then I had to quit before I was even done because my flash ran out of batteries. And though I used every battery I could get my hands on, I wasn’t able to get more than a few extra shots. But I got most of what I wanted covered, so I guess it’s okay. Still sorry about the horrid quality. I wasn’t able to give Yami the expressions she needed because there were no proper shadows to play with. Stupid weather. I shot this a few weeks ago but didn’t really have the energy to write it up before now.

The Spider’s Lair was surprisingly cozy and glamorous. It even smelled nice and flowery.

Somnion had been expecting something dark and dank.

Kingly outfits

Some Lin photos from my birthday. Spent most of the day lugging him along while we looked for photography spots in infernal heat. x_x Can’t say I’m super happy with any of the photos, but at least I got exercise for once?

It’s Lin’s blog debut, apparently. I haven’t had him at home for probably over a year now since he’s been staying with Mizya. Thus the lack of photos.

Jorougumo

Ugh, I’ve been sick for the past few days.. managed to get a cold because I didn’t put enough clothes on when I took a small bike trip. x_x I’ve been feeling pretty lethargic but finally found the energy to take Yami to my favourite spring spot. I guess it’s become a bit of a ritual of mine to go to this place with a new doll. In 2012 it was Prisca, last year it was Sigrun, and now it’s Yami. Always a new doll I’ve received the previous December/January. I didn’t notice it until now, though. The previous years I had to wait until May, but this year we had an almost snow-free winter so it was possible to go there this early. It was a bit muddy, though.

Anyway, my Jorougumo. xD Yami has lived in Japan for a long, long time and some of those legends originate from her. She likes to be talked about and feared. Also she is a Nephila Clavata species herself, so…
