But in the mean time I took some Sigrun photos while I was out testing my new camera <3
Dark Siren
I made my extra Onyx head into a siren and I love her lots. She needs a name but for now she’s just “siren”. I also want to re-blush the hands+arms to match her darker colour scheme but I couldn’t wait to take at least a few photos. Too bad they didn’t come out at all how I wanted them to. The weather was really against me. It was supposed to be cloudy and rainy but nope, all the clouds strategically moved around the damn sun and the wind was horrible. I had the doll on a stand so I didn’t have to worry about her falling, but me? The waves were so strong it was really hard to stay upright and not shake the camera. Also the sun really does not compliment her at all. She’s all dark but pale and would really work with gloomy weather much better.
I got so fed up with the sun that I settled with the photos and went for dull poses and backlight. I also had this waterproof camera bag with me and I was planning on taking a low angle shot of her but the waves were too strong. I’m gonna try that shot again sometime later in the month I guess but not sure if I’ll make it for the challenge. I’ll drag mizya with me and people can call us crazy (again) for ‘swimming’ when it’s already way cold. xD
The first shots are taken with the waterproof bag, so the quality isn’t very good, then when I went to take my camera out of the bag, I also changed her wig. And at one point a strong wave knocked off her other arm finn. I’m glad I noticed before I left cause it would’ve been hard (if not impossible) to find later. When I noticed it was gone, it hadn’t moved much yet despite the strong waves. Luckily resin is pretty heavy.
Oh but hey, even though I didn’t get the kind of photos I wanted, I did get to swim a bit with the beach almost all to myself. It’s 10 degrees cooler now than it has been for like a month so people assume it’s way too cold to swim. The lakewater was really warm, though… unlike the wind.

Some Lin photos from my birthday. Spent most of the day lugging him along while we looked for photography spots in infernal heat. x_x Can’t say I’m super happy with any of the photos, but at least I got exercise for once?
It’s Lin’s blog debut, apparently. I haven’t had him at home for probably over a year now since he’s been staying with Mizya. Thus the lack of photos.

Nature of Research
I will be re-doing this scene as a proper story at some point when I finally have all the props needed. But for now I just really wanted to try it out. :D I need to make more old paperwork and a better table and and… I need other props too.
I’d especially love one other doll to be present there too, but I don’t know if that’ll be possible.

This was supposed to be a one-shot, but there was always something wrong with the pose in photos and I had to change it… so it kind of progressed into a super-mini story. Cx
Jorougumo
Ugh, I’ve been sick for the past few days.. managed to get a cold because I didn’t put enough clothes on when I took a small bike trip. x_x I’ve been feeling pretty lethargic but finally found the energy to take Yami to my favourite spring spot. I guess it’s become a bit of a ritual of mine to go to this place with a new doll. In 2012 it was Prisca, last year it was Sigrun, and now it’s Yami. Always a new doll I’ve received the previous December/January. I didn’t notice it until now, though. The previous years I had to wait until May, but this year we had an almost snow-free winter so it was possible to go there this early. It was a bit muddy, though.
Anyway, my Jorougumo. xD Yami has lived in Japan for a long, long time and some of those legends originate from her. She likes to be talked about and feared. Also she is a Nephila Clavata species herself, so…
It still snows
I’ll just post these in the same entry because I took them all today. It was snowing lightly so I went to take some Nion photos, and later on it was still snowing so I went outside again. xD
Ice King
Oh my, I’m so happy with how these turned out. I haven’t really played with lamps in forever. And the interesting thing is that I did it now when the days are actually pretty light -and not in the winter when lamps were the only option. xD
I worked with Nion a bit today and gave him some new pliver and a few silicone discs in hopes of making a few of his more problematic joints work better. I have a few more photo ideas lined up for him and I hope I get to try those out soon.

I’ve got some Yami randomness since I got my first doll stand and was able to cheat for some windy photos. xD
A Monsters’ Teaparty
Some Valentine’s Day themed photos in a way. It’s “friends day” in Finland, not a lovers’ holiday. So my rather unlikely pair of friends is having tea together.
I will re-do this some day when I have better furniture or a possibility for a nicer setup, because these are quite horrible.
Light path
This is something I’ll need to re-do when/IF we get more snow this winter. We probably won’t but I can always hope, right? I should also shoot RAW next time, so that I can edit them better -hopefully. I’m really not loving the colours in these. I pretty much only like the last Sigrun photo because that edited well.
