60cm+ sized dolls
I went to check out some tracks in the forest today, and took Sigrun with me, just so that I’d get a little something out of the trip. Nothing special, a small photo session, but it felt good to be outside, rolling in the snow for a change. There’s lots of it and it’s soft and pretty ♥
I haven’t had the time to photograph during the day but the weather is rather gorgeous, so I went out at night then. I absolutely suck at night photography and I don’t have any good lighting equipment either, so I just had to work with what I have. Which was the lamp on the backyard. There was nothing to light up the background, which is a shame. If I had proper flash systems these could’ve been awesome. But as it is, they dark and sort of bad. But at least it was fun rolling around in the powder snow with more falling all the time?
The first one is a flash photo (had to test it) and you can see the falling snow nicely.
I finished a slightly larger commission dress and thought that it deserves an entry of it’s own. Iria got to model it because it’s close to what she wore when she was still a regular human -style wise. Otherwise it’s a bit too luxurious for her and red & gold aren’t really her colours either. They’d gotten this same fabric in a camel tone as well, but I wish they’d have a different, darker brown and I could make something similar out of it for Iria. I love it because it feels super soft and looks a lot like suede, though it’s polyester. It stains quite a bit though and I ended up with a pink sewing machine and Sigrun’s hips turned pink too (she modeled it until I finished it because her clothes were less of a hassle to take off, lol).
But well, I have undergarments in the works for Iria and a corset. Maybe one of these days I’ll find fabric for the outer pieces of the outfit as well… I hope. Her outfit will be somewhat different and more plain.
I’ve been working on sewing and face up commissions lately. The latter being a bit of a pain because of the weather, but I’m getting there… So, not much photos. But I did take these the other day. It was supposed to be my continuation to the previous Seb/Null photos, but unfortunately the heavy snowfall stopped right after the first photos of Null and I totally lost my inspiration. Sebille is also a noodle and I don’t feel like tightening her because I just want a new body for her.
And speaking of bodies… I managed to snatch myself a very cute limited DD off Y!J but then Withdoll went and released Vera, so I’m going to have to sell her right along. I’m thinking of re-painting her though and I’m definitely making her an outfit and having a shoot with her before she goes, though. Then, I need to buy Sebille that body and probably put Vera on layaway. That new skintone just tempts me so much. =u=
Anyway, a few photos (so not happy with them). I wanted a really good snowstorm going on but nope, just my luck..
This is super repetitive but I was in a hurry and the wind was strong. I started changing Nion’s clothes to something I could dig up (because I haven’t found fabric for his winter version outfit yet) and while I was fighting with him, the light started fading. The dude is a total noodle although it’s not long since I’ve changed his strings. Crappy things, they’d stretched a ton. I took like 7cm off and he’s sturdy again but who knows for how long. I’m always surprised by how pretty he is when he’s in front of the camera, for real. =u=
Anyway, I didn’t have time to get changed to proper winter gear either, so I got wet (too). I’ll try for more poses and variety next time. ):3
Uugh, I’ve been busy, thus no updates in a while. But I’m alive! And today I took some time to take Iria out in her armours before there’s a lot of snow (though I bet that’ll melt soon anyway). I have some outfits planned for her that I’d like to sew this month. But I don’t know if I’ll be able to find the missing fabrics and if I have time. I mean, I’ve made some time between Christmas and New Year, but if my family distracts me non-stop, I won’t be able to work on it anyway. Sigh.
This was my first proper test with her after the torso change and elbow mods and she worked fine. I’m gonna test her arms with thicker string, though.
Oh well, now it’s back to commissions…
We still have snow. Even more actually, because it snowed all day yesterday and if I hadn’t pushed it all out of the yard yesterday there would’ve been about 30cm of it this morning. I just had to take Kiyo out in all white. Even the wind was in my favor because she was wearing this light chiffon cape-thing that flows beautifully. :3
Alright, first snow! And finally the rest of my earlier Sadol package makes an appearance: the umbrella! The moment I saw it I was like holy hell I need to have it! I’ve been dreaming of a black SD size umbrella for years. I even wrote about it on the Finnish doll forun back in 2008… I had to wait a long time and it’s too big for my SD girls (originally wanted it for Sebille) but Null has more stable arms for holding it anyway.
I was going to do a review of the umbrella, because it’s gorgeous and comes with it’s own bag and everything, but it’s so damn dark indoors that I can’t get any good photos taken. =__= It’s really quite huge, more like a golf umbrella for a 70cm doll, but works well for two dolls. It’s also surprisingly light. Not sure how it compares to the cheaper ones available but I’m sure that Sadol has made all the plastic parts themselves by casting them in black resin (it resembles Withdoll’s optional parts). The handle doesn’t stain the doll hands and all the shapes are very sleek. I love it ♥ Null has no problem holding it up without support, as you can see.
I’ve been waiting for snowfall to take these photos, and while I was doing this, I got an idea for another shoot that I’ve planned down to the last detail already. I just need to wait for a colder weather and a more powdery snowfall -whenever that will be. x_x Still, it’ll be so much fun and I hope I’ll be happy with the results. This was more of a test run.
Ookay, I’ve been eyeing this Sadol school jacket ever since it was released but I didn’t have a doll to wear it back then. And once I did, I couldn’t afford to order from them. But a few weeks ago I finally did it: got the jacket, skirt, socks and super cute shoes. I need to make a few shirts to go under this, this is Sebille’s. Well, I planned on making them beforehand, but I got lazy and I have so much other stuff to sew too.
So glad this package arrived today. I was SO nervous because our postal service is failing with a package I have coming from Japan. It might be returning to sender -or not, they don’t even know at the customer service ¤”%#/”½!! I’m really worried for ANY packages right now actually, because of all the strikes and ongoing battles with the employers and employees and untrained workers and whatever. Some days we don’t even seem to get the daily mail into our box. But seriously, I will flip my shit if they return that damn package without even allowing the seize and re-deliver order I had them make take into effect. I’ve paid taxes for it and everything. If it does get retuned, I will see if I can just get refunded and the taxes returned because I don’t want to pay shipping again and play with customs again. Ugh.
But back to my Sadol package. I also got a little something for Null in it, but I think I’ll need to wait for some kind of snow before taking photos. I have an idea in mind. :3
My dad had to drive up north for a meeting today, so I tagged along to keep him company for the long drive. I had Sayaka and Avis with me and my camera + various lenses but on the way our schedule was really tight and the way back was a race against the setting sun. But I don’t know when I’ll get to visit the area again because we no longer have relatives up there… Maybe if we go see our patch of land all the way in Kuivaniemi? I don’t know.
Anyway, I got to take Sayaka out on two different occasions: once on the way and once on the way back during the sunset. I had a third chance too, but it was cold and I felt lazy -besides it was already dark. Avis stayed in the bag the whole time, poor thing.
First spot: The Center of Finland.
I succumbed to tourism and Saya is showing the plaque, awesome. The actual spot is some 7km off this place, but they built it here along the road in the late fifties to make it into a tourist spot.
I’m (really slowly) working on a new outfit for Iria. I never even had a proper shoot in her original one, but oh well. I’ve had the design and some of the patterns done for months already and I even made one piece of it some time ago, but I have a hard time deciding which fabrics to use for the rest of it. That and I keep getting distracted: like yesterday, I was going to start cutting the fabrics. I took them all out and everything. And then I found nice leggins fabrics from by pile and instead, cut like 15 pairs of leggins (SD16/DDdy, SD & MSD size). Lol. =__=;; The sales coats are still in the works too. Oh, and last night I dug out an old silk dress I made 4 years ago, pretty much cut off the back and started making a new back hem to make it nicer and useable for Prisca.
And let’s not even speak of the SG corset I started last year, the shirts I cut for Null at the same time and another SD silk dress I cut a year ago. I have too much unfinished stuff. Though, right now I really wanna do something nice for my own dolls. ♥
Anyway, finally managed to finish this story.
The summer was coming to an end. The trees were dropping their leaves in the wind and amidst them, a lonely figure limped in the forest.
At times the woman had thought she felt something in the woods but calling out to it had brought her no answers. Must’ve been an animal.

Remember how I said I’d love to have the new body’s legs and the rest from the old body? Well, with Iria that’s not an option because she needs the new arms for the armour parts, but changing the torso would also be a HUGE step-up because the new body torso joint is just insufferable. I get so frustrated with its lack of posing and snapping back that I’ve been ready to throw the doll at a wall several times. ｡゜(｀Д´)゜｡
So, I went and asked Souldoll if they would sell me the old body torso alone. To which they replied that it’s impossible. They have issues with casting the old bodies (which is why any orders with the old female body are delayed by a lot apparently). I replied and posted them photos of my body comparisons and said that I was very displeased with the new body and that it’s not worth what I paid for it. I also pointed out that they’re still selling the old body, so why can’t they make the torso for me. But they replied that they’ll be discontinuing it shortly. Clearly, they’re not willing to fix the master molds despite a lot of people liking the look of the old body. (｡ŏ﹏ŏ)
They said they’d offer to sell me parts from the new body, but what the hell would I do with those? The new body is the problem in it’s entirety. And also that they’ll be looking into fixing the problems with the new body… sometime. Mainly the resin dust and gapping issues, probably not the shape of the joint, I don’t know. But for now there was no solution for me, so I gave up.
Then, later that same day I got an email from Souldoll that said they found an old body from their warehouse that had resin dust issues in the arms, but the torso was okay, so they could sell that to me. (ﾉ^ヮ^)ﾉ*:・ﾟ✧ I nearly jumped out of my seat. But the message didn’t mention a resin colour, so I was a little wary and asked them if it was white skin. But nope, I got an instant reply saying that they’re sorry, they got confused and that the body they had was normal skin. (╯°Д°）╯︵ ┻━┻
At that point I was even more disappointed. When I messaged them, I was thinking that the worst they could do was say no. After their email I got my hopes up and then got shot down even lower than I was before. I wanted to forget the whole thing at that point. =____=;;
But then, the next morning I had another email from Souldoll waiting in my inbox, saying that they found one more body from their warehouse and that was white skin. （ﾉ｡≧◇≦）ﾉ Whoop~! I was instantly like yes, yes I’ll buy it, yes! Let me buy it (even if it’s yellowed, I’ll take it )! I was afraid of mentioning this purchase anywhere because I was still kind of sceptical that I’d get it. They could send me the ns one, or a new torso… or it could get lost in the mail and I’d never get it ever… endless possibilities for a pessimist. :P
But now it’s here!

Even more miraculous that it managed to slip past customs. Nowadays they grab even damn tiniest letters, so how they let this one slide by, I have no idea. But saved me some 30€ there.

I’ve been sewing a lot lately and I still have more to sew. But I’m taking a break for a little while before getting back to some stuff I have lying around half-finished.
Today, I photographed what I finished yesterday: Cardigans for Etsy.
I’ve also made each of my DD girls a lingerie set with bra patterns from Dollybird magazine. A few of the patterns need some alterations to work better (mainly the L size), but they’re a good base to work on. Also, I’d be way too lazy to make each bust size their own pattern, so… yeah. I’m getting Yuyu an S bust so her bra is a little small on her and Saya’s bra is also a bit small though I followed the pattern. Saya’s panties are also old ones from a few months ago, but I made the new bra to match them (they’re just not very flattering anyhow).
Sooo, the girls ended up posing in their lingerie + cardigans. :P
Oh right, and Saya also got a new L bust (had the shapely previously). However, I think I want to switch it to the flat one they’re releasing soon, so I won’t mod this one ike I did her other one (=nipples gone).
More Kiyori because I’m really excited about her. (But I’ll try to do a bjd story next.) I took some photos of her the day before with a backdrop but then I visited Mizya yesterday and now the previous photos just look plain and dull. Mizya let me borrow her blue Lizanna stardust eyes (that I photoshopped to look more like aquamarine) and she just came alive. The Volks eyes are just so blank there’s no comparison whatsoever. She also has this gorgeous fabric I’d also kill for. I’d wear it out using it as a backdrop and then I’d make a dress out of it for Kiyo. I’d also like a sunset coloured one and I’d make a dress out of it for Seere. =u= But no can do.
I was also planning on passing up on Volks’ September releases but when I woke up in the morning there was still one chocolate carry case left and I just could not resist. I bought another bust and hands for Saya along with it. But I wasn’t able to get Kiyo or Yuyu any extra hands (the lack of them is driving me nuts) because NONE of the ns normal size hands are in stock. While I could’ve gotten everything for Saya who uses large sw hands. ;____; I also couldn’t get a new bust for Yuyu because I want to change hers to a prettier one. That was also out of stock. >_>* I reeeaally hope they restock the ns stuff by the time I’m ordering next time because Kiyo especially needs more hands. Yuyu can make do with the mismatch pair she has and the normal ones, but for Kiyo it’s not enough. :/
Anyway, I photographed Kiyori at mizya’s place yesterday, and boy, am I loving these photos. The first two are from the day before, though, so you can see the difference. I used the dull staircase bg I have and had Snake visit, because I haven’t been able to sell it. (Soon he’ll become Kiyo’s pet.)
