I ordered the Justitia armour set for Iria back in December and it finally arrived yesteday (a heavy armour package and a light feather package arrived together). I dyed it yesterday and painted it today, but the lance is still not done. I realized that I’m running out of MSC semi-gloss and I really hope there’s enough for it, too, because it takes several months for me to get more. =__=

Anyway, a bit of arrival and wip photos and some babble about it.

Souldoll Zenith female new double vs old double +Review

Okay, so I bought the new Zenith body for Iria although I didn’t like photos of it much and there isn’t much info on it yet. I just don’t like to own more than one of the same body, so I went for it despite the reservations I had. I was also looking forward to the legs that seemed much more stable than on the old double body.

Lol, I asked Souldoll to not string her so tight for the shipping (because their dolls always arrive so tight it’s a surprise they survive the shipping and it’s a pain to take them apart). They said sure, and I expected to get a noodle that I have to tighten. But nope: she arrived strung perfectly. I had no issue changing her hands or feet with just my fingers as tools and yet she’s firm enough to hold any poses. From now on, I’ll always ask for more loose stringing when I order dolls from them. xD

So, this is my comparison and review of the Souldoll new Zenith double body (vs. old Zenith double). I apologize for all the possible typos, I’m too tired to proof-read this right now.

Fair warning: I don’t have that much good to say about it. If I didn’t have the old body to compare to, I might’ve given it a better review. These are my opinions, though I tried to be as impartial as possible. The pictures also speak for themselves. I didn’t explain that much about the old body because it’s been around for a long time and I’m sure there are reviews of it somewhere.

The new body is always on the right side of the image.

Standing

Side by side the sizes are pretty much the same. The older body is a little bit taller, although the new body has longer legs. The postures are different as well. The new body has a more curved back in her default pose, which makes her push her chest out. The shape of the upper torso is also different but more about that later.

They can both stand in the same way, but the old body is less stable in the knees, so I didn’t push the legs together as much to not lose balance here. The new body can stand with her legs wider apart but you have to rotate the whole leg a bit because her knees don’t rotate at all. The ankles in the new body are much better: very stable. I tend to use boots with the old body to give her ankles support.

What is this? a DD?

Oh yess! Finally, I was able to get one. There was a Dollfie Dream Sirius in my very first doll meet 10 years ago and ever since I handled her, I’ve wanted one. Actually that is probably when I decided that some day I would get one. Well, it is now 10 years later and I got one (well sort of 2). My resin collection is in such a state that I don’t have that many ‘important’ things to buy so I could finally go for one.

I’ve been thinking about DDs all this time, but because the timing was never right, I didn’t really pay attention to the molds that much. Not before earlier this year at least. There are so many limiteds but because Volks hasn’t released any that I’ve liked in a while and they’re so damn expensive in the second hand market, I first looked at the basic models. And decided to go for a DDH-07 for my versatile girl that can do almost any style shoot. But then I spotted a DDH-09 custom at an auction with an absolutely adorable :I -kinda expression and I knew I needed that mold too. It’s now my favorite out of the basic ones and I really wouldn’t mind having another one either. I’m just sad they apparently only come in NS. I have a few limited faces I like too and might replace my Satsuki (DDH-07) with one some day, but for now I’ll have these two basic girls.

Anyway, this girl is the DDH-09, named Yuyuka. She’s on the DDS body with medium bust because I didn’t want both girls to have the same one. I bought the head and body separately and the body is used but it’s in beautiful condition (I found one small stain from her arm). I didn’t have much competition in the bidding, so in the end she cost less than a basic doll would from Volks. ♥ (Even though I paid like double price for the head because you can’t get a DDH-09 from Volks’ webstore.) More photos below the cut and a long-ish rant-story of how she came to be. (Oh yes, being poetic, but believe me, hunting her down was not poetic at all.) I would’ve taken box opening photos but it was really dark and she came blank, so I passed on that.

Azone: New clothes, finally?

I received some new clothes for Rise in the mail today and took a few random photos. And including 3 older ones too.

I’m not very good at Azone photography. It’s hard for me for some reason and I somehow always manage to get a shine on their faces. I need to find new ways to use light for these little ones because obviously what I do with BJDs isn’t working with these guys. Not that I have more than one, but I am getting another this summer. And then maybe two more at some point if Azone releases the faces I like with styles I like or if I find my faves reasonably from second hand. But since I’m not willing to pay nearly as much as most people are, it’s probably not happening. xD

(´ ▽｀).。ｏ♡ Might be because I’ve been thinking about their future a bit and I have something planned for Null, probably… I have a ton of storylines for these two actually (cause I love them) but I have to decide carefully what to do with the actual storyline. x3

Caged Bird

Took these last week but I was really lazy about updating. xD

At the same time I also changed the theme on my blog. Took me the whole day to customize it but it’s quite okay now. There are some settings I just could not find how to change, but oh well. Maybe some other day I’ll have the energy for them again. I should actually make a new layout for the main page too. And start working on my photobook… and sew.

I’m also waiting for a doll package but the lazyasses at the international airport have some Thursday-arrival-issues and can’t even manage to forward it to customs. And the customs is in the same place. =___=;;; I want my dollie~

Story: Not-so-sweet dream café (+Extras)

Ohoho, a little story activity here! This is a collaboration between mizya and I (and Azones and BJDs, thus it’s in both categories). I visited Mizy and brought her a new cafe floor, then quickly made a superb mop from our combined supplies… and then we got to it. I had Rise and Muu with me. Everyone else belongs to Mizya and so does most of Rise’s outfit because I don’t have anything new for her. We’d planned most of the story beforehand and the unplanned parts were mostly a collaborated effort. I posed and photographed the dolls & Mizya helped behind the scenes. I also edited the photos, but she added the Japanese/English commentary to the story. x3

Battling Dragons

These are all kind of similar again. Especially the Delmia photos because I was running out of light and camera battery. It was blinking quite a while before I stopped and then I just quickly snapped some close ups of her (which happen to be my favorite photos of these) hoping that the camera wouldn’t die on me.

Anyway, just executing an idea I had. Some more to come if the weather gets better -or if I could at least get some light indoors. :I I’m kind of sad that the pose where Prisca has her hip out nicely doesn’t really show in photos. Bad angles, I guess but I was paying more attention to other things.

Shadowy Dreams

I spent some time sewing for Prisca yesterday. This dress is completely pattern free and one of those styles that requires a lot of sewing by hand to make it extra neat. Well, the separate sleeves are kind of sloppy because I just winged them on the machine this morning, but the dress itself needed a lot of detailing. Pretty much only the hem is machine sewn (serged to be more exact), so it took quite a while to make.

Azone: arrival

Oh, whoops. I’m now accidentally a pure neemo owner. I got my first girl (DC Progression Lycee) from Mizya on Wednesday. A surprise gift 3 months before my birthday. I was like “Whaaaat is this? :D” when she handed the gift-wrapped package to me. And like oh noes, is it an Azone?? in my head while I was unwrapping it. I’m doomed now. I need to make her clothes and buy her shoes and mnghgh! :D Cause you know me, I just can’t do with one outfit for a long time. I’m super glad her default outfit is versatile, though, and that the boots are lovely. They work with the dark kimonos I made for a winter look, too.

Yes, I made some Azone sized clothing (available in my etsy, link in the sidebar) because I had a body here from Mizya as a sewing model, and now I have a full doll thanks to her, so that I can take photos of the finished producst as well. I don’t know, I might update this blog with some of my sewing work from time to time too. Currently I only post some of them to my flickr.

If you want to filter out my Azone entries, just go to my categories and click “company” and it’ll only give you BJDs. And if you want to filter out the BJDs, just click “Azone”. By the way, I also added an azone profile page, separate from my other dolls (and updated that one).

The Hated One

I have some outdoor photos coming at some point, but I just haven’t had the energy to re-size them for the web yet. I’ve been more interested in modding and painting my newest arrival: A Migidoll Vampire Ell head. Not yet sure how well it’ll work for this character, but it’s the best there is out there right now.

The eyes are Llyr’s old ones that he can keep until I find better ones, but everything else is borrowed, including the body that is completely the wrong colour (Kilbas’). I just had to put him on a body to see how he could look. I need to get him a wig that would suit him and horns and make some clothes, but I won’t know what size to make before I figure out what body I’ll get him and I have no idea when that’ll be.

He’s Nion’s father and Khepre’s brother-in-law, btw. He’s been mentioned in a few of my stories. But more about him when I start getting him stuff.
